I was at the Red Sea on Saturday night with my fiance when we were both assaulted by bouncers there. Yes we were drunk, probably even annoying but in no way were we threatening, violent or abusive. I am still unsure of what might have happened to provoke the response of a bouncer dragging me half way down the stairs, pinning me against the wall by the throat and punching my repeatedly in the face. My fiance who was obviously a little distressed by this development was dragged down the stairs in a headlock.

I called the police and told the officer of my wish to lay a formal complaint. It will be interesting to see how far it gets. It is complicated by the fact that there are no security cameras in the stair well (obviously the bouncers know this)and due to the fact that because we were fairly drunk it is difficult to relate the exact sequence of events. All I know is that there is nothing I could have done to elicit the kind violent response. I certainly did nothing to physically threaten the bouncer. Further more, I fail to understand how punching somebody repeatedly in the face is in anyway helpful in escorting someone off the premise.

Perhaps most disturbing of all was the fact that my fiance (petite, 5 foot 4) was dragged down the staires in a headlock by a male bouncer. As a consequence she spent the next 5 hours in hospital with a neck brace as medical staff checked for any serious neck injuries.
