| Unfortunately I had a similiar experience to you Peter, recently at Stella's and also at previously at the Queens Head Hotel in SA unfortunately as I had always heard reasonably good about both. The service staff in general are abysmal. Part of the reason being is that for many of them (not all of course)it is not their chosen profession. Just a way of earning some bucks. These are the same ones who glare when they don't receive a huge tip after you pay the bill! The service staff at Stellas tend to give you that fake smile and made us feel like we were 'bothering' them in their attempts to pack up and get home in time for late night BB.. When I ate at the QH where we were one of only two-three tables that night. We ate three courses, drank two bottles of good wine , etc. Spent over $300 between four of us, not to mention a few drinks at the bar before and after. We were very annoyed when we left. I had asked one of the three staff on that night if they could please split the bill in two. I know this can be a pain but they were DEAD QUIET and I had asked very politely. I was told in the bluntest manner "No, we don't do that. and then she had the cheek to point to the fact it is stated on their menu! We decided to go back into the bar for a cleansing ale where a table of obvious staff and hanger ons had congregated, after getting our drink s we were then told to 'better drink up folks as wer'e closing in five minutes! Perhaps before they took our cash they should have mentioned this need to skull!!! Needless to say no tip,no future business and no future reccomendation! |
