Thanks to nif, I finally got to the bottom of a disappearing posts mystery which appears to have been due to an overreaching spam clean up back in October which misapplied to a dozen posts in this thread and one more of mine elsewhere.

While we appear to still be satisfactorily blocking several automated spam scripts, one of the design features of TransForum is to keep everything that is ever posted successfully, even when it may later be necessary to render it invisible.

Distractions within distractions, but let us hope three months without the insights here does not bring an end to the thinking about what constitutes reliable knowledge in this era of specialised overreach.
